maps.google.com
Ok, not only does this put every other web-based mapping app out there to shame, it puts most of Google's other interface work to shame, including Gmail. I really can't get my head around how they do this. Is it SVG generated on the server side being transformed to raster format? You'd think there'd still be some delay when scrolling around, but nope, not at all.

Thu, February 17, 2005 - 9:16 PMThat map interface gets a 10.5~
I looked up financial investment accountants today on google.
It referred me to the google map/interface where I could navigate
to local accountants and use that great interface.
How does it work?
The internet is googly...

Re: Google Maps
Fri, May 27, 2005 - 5:15 PMJavascript, XMLHttpRequest, and various other remote scripting mechanisms existed well before Jesse James Garrett coined the term "AJAX" on February 18th this year, thereby boosting his conference speaking fee 358%, no doubt ;p
It's all about really good design. "AJAX", or whatever the kids with Macs are deciding to call it this week, is a tool. It can be used to create as many crappy apps as good ones.
